The SEO you’ve heard about and moaned about is probably not the same SEO I’ve heard about. A recent forum thread on Boagworld has showed me one thing: people misunderstand “SEO”. They’re taking all of the bad and spammy practices and labelling ALL search engine optimisation professionals with it.
Is it just me, or is that the equivalent of saying front-end developers are shit because they code using tables… or worse, Irish people are always drunk? Neither of those things are true, and it’s also not true that good SEO is bullshit or, more importantly, bad for the user.

It’s not often that I write about websites, but this morning I stumbled upon Food Sense, a site with the aim of bringing plant-based recipes online for those who “have the palate”.
I love everything about this site: the tone of the copy, the greyscaleblack & green colour scheme, the choice of typeface, the logo and the spacious grid.

If, like me, you’re downloading and installing OS X Lion today then you’ll notice they’ve changed scroll direction so it matches iOS. On your current set up when you swipe down or scroll down, the content of the page will move upwards – the opposite of what happens in iOS.
This feels extremely weird at first but that’s only because you’re going against what you’re used to, not necessarily used to doing what is actually correct. Think about it, what do you want to control when you scroll? Content, or the scroll bar itself?
